Everton v Manchester United
Everything is lined up for a massive football game on Sunday afternoon when we see Everton v Manchester United. Everton’s 10 point deduction will see their fans flock to this game and give their team every drop of support that is humanly possible.
What an awkward match for United. After going into the international break as the form team in the league, having an away game at Goodison Park in the back of their heads – especially after news broke that they are deducted 10 points – isn’t the most ideal scenario. The Toffees have really improved under Sean Dyche this campaign. A fairly easy run of fixtures to the start the season have seen performances improve slowly as they’ve come up against stronger opponents in the last couple of months. I still think they’ll be alright and play in the PL also next season.
I can make a decent case for a low margin game with few chances and a low number of goals, and the exact opposite. The betting market is probably in alignment with me there, as over 2.5 goals are priced at 1.84, while under is 1.96. The flip of a coin, in other words.
If the term favourite ever has any value to use for a football match, this is not it. 2.55 for a United win sees them edge it in terms of being favourites, while Everton are priced at 2.85. The draw? 3.55.
A really difficult game to predict. The Goodison atmosphere can be incredibly tense and difficult to play in, both for Everton players and the visiting team, depending on Everton fans’ mood and happiness. I think the atmosphere will swing heavily in favour of The Toffees, which is why I want to take something on their side here. I was looking at shots on target, but wasn’t too keen on the prices there.
After some thinking time, I trust my gut instinct to take Everton over 4.5 corners at 1.75 instead. I just think they’ll have a lot of situations and be “forced” to take plenty of crosses and shots as the home faithful do their utmost to motivate the players in a difficult situation.
