It’s time for the highly anticipated grand finale of the Women’s World Championships between Spain and England! Both teams are in a good vein of form with decent momentum, so it’s a difficult game to call. Here are my thoughts ahead of the Women’s World Championships Final, including my best betting pick.
Immediate Thoughts
I picked a Spain win + under 3.5 goals using the Unibet Bet Builder, at a nice price of 2.55, in their semi-final victory. It was a winner, so I hope to find similar value this time around. What are my immediate thoughts?
Well, I’m actually a bit surprised to see Spain as favourites here. Although I’ve waxed lyrical about them for the entirety of this tournament, I’d go as far as to say that England’s position as a footballing colossus should not be underestimated, and that in itself would be enough to make them quite heavy favourites here. Experience is huge in big games.
Players To Look Out For
With similar average age (around 26 for both teams), there are some key players to look out for in their best age. Teresa Abelleira I’ve already mentioned on numerous occasions for Spain, and she will be crucial for them in this game as well. Hermoso has three goals and two assists, so expect to see her in the midst of things as she enters the form of her life. I’d like to point out a couple of individuals for England: Alex Greenwood at the back and Rachel Daly up front. Although England haven’t performed well at all at least not in relation to the high expectations – those two have been the shining light – of course in addition to Lauren James (sister of Chelsea men’s player Reece).
My Prediction & Betting Pick
I’ve been very bullish on Spain for a few weeks now, and it feels weird to just stop that already. Just stick to my guns and back them all the way, eh? Hmm…
Spain are a better aerial team than England, while the Lionesses have the all important experience on their side. After England’s quite comfortable win over Australia, I would expect confidence levels to rise and see them return back to the level we all know they are capable of. However, Spain’s upward momentum is frightening, and really risky to neglect. It’s a hugely difficult call for me, but I’m a betting man who always looks for value in my picks. My honest prediction is a 1-1 at full-time, and England nicking it in extra time. My betting pick, therefore, is for England to lift the trophy at the end of the match – regardless of penalties, extra time, etc. 1.95 is the current price, and in my opinion it should be a lot closer to 1.80 than that. I wouldn’t touch it at 1.85, but at 1.95 it’s worth a punt. I also like England to win it inside 90 minutes at 2.90.
That concludes my betting picks for the Women’s World Championships Final. Thanks for following my weekly previews throughout this tournament. Make sure you check out my regular betting previews for Premier League and League One as well, where I’m in solid profit for the last year!
