What is blackjack?
Blackjack can claim to be the most widely played card game at online casinos.
Originating at the start of the 17th century, it uses a standard deck of 52 playing cards.
This is a straight contest between the player and the dealer.
At online casinos, no other opponents are involved.
Two cards are initially dealt with the option to take further cards if they are advantageous.
Use the scoring system to beat the dealer and scoop the pot.

How does online blackjack work?
The optimum score in blackjack is 21.
The player and dealer are dealt two cards each in the opening stages.
Depending on the score of those initial cards, they can either:
Hit: - Take another card
Stand: - Stick with those opening two cards
Players and the dealer can continue to take a hit until they are satisfied with their score or if they bust and go over the 21 mark.
Cards numbered 2 through to 10 are worth their face value.
The picture cards - J, Q and K - are all worth 10 points.
The Ace - that can either be valued at 1 or 11.
The choice here is down to the player, depending on how useful either score is to their hand.
The aim is to hit 21 or get as close as possible to that score.
If you go over 21, you ‘bust’ and the hand is lost.
Note that you must beat the dealer’s score: A tie is not sufficient to scoop the pot and the dealer will win in this scenario.
The optimum hand is ‘blackjack’ which is formed by an ace and a ten or a picture card.
This makes a perfect 21 and the hand cannot be beaten.
These basic rules you need for playing blackjack online.
What are the different types of online
blackjack games that I can play?

Classic Blackjack:
Some of our players like to keep it simple.
Blackjack is a classic card game and they don’t like to mess around with it.
With classic blackjack games, there are no add-ons, no second packs of cards and no side bets.
Just blackjack as it was originally played.
Check out the demo version of Classic Blackjack on Unibet or sign up to play with real money.

Multihand Blackjack:
There’s a clue in the name.
Rather than do battle with just one hand, it’s possible to take multiple deals in multihand versions of online blackjack.
Of course, you will need to stake additional sums for each hand that you claim.
It’s a balance but more hands boosts the chances of any type of win.

Online blackjack with side bets:
There are blackjack games online where you can place side bets.
These are separate to the main game and can payout even if you lose the overall hand.
777 Blazing Blackjack is a good example of this.
It’s a game that can pay side bets if at least one 7 lands in the opening deal.
Side bets are optional in any blackjack game that includes them.
Assess your options and decide whether you want to play the game with this subtle twist.

Zap Away:
New blackjack variants are coming online on a regular basis.
Unibet uses multiple games producers.
If we think our players will like a specific title, we’ll add it to our roster.
Zappit is one example.
Depending on the rules, players can replace their entire hand if they are dealt 15, 16 or 17. These are tricky numbers.
Do you hit or stand?
With Zappit blackjack, you don’t have to think about it - just discard them and start again.
That’s just one version of a classic game where a tweak to the rules makes things more interesting.
The choice is yours.
You can stay with the classics, play a quirky alternative or you can switch to the live rooms.

Live Dealer Blackjack:
There some online blackjack games you can play with live dealers.
The games follow the same rules but, instead of using automated software, you are up against a human being.
Games are played in real time and use high quality sound and graphics.
If your connection is up to the task, this experience will be as close as possible to playing the blackjack tables in Las Vegas or Atlantic City.
What types of Casino bonuses and promotions can I use for playing online blackjack?
Unibet publishes regular promotions and the majority of these can be used to play online blackjack.
Offers are subject to change but there should always be a welcome package to thank you for signing up.
Ongoing promos for online blackjack can then appear through the life of the account.
These might include free chips or a matched bonus on your deposits.
Check the terms and conditions but remember that these offers can add value while you’re playing at the tables.

Tips for playing online blackjack
We’ve given you the bare bones of playing blackjack online, but it doesn’t seem fair to release you into
the wild just yet. Unibet have been online since 1997 and we’d like to pass on some of our knowledge.
There are no guarantees, but these tips are intended to help you in your ongoing blackjack journey.
#Tip 1:
Look for high RTP variants of online blackjack
RTP stands for Return to Player and it’s all about the house edge when you’re playing blackjack online.
The RTP is shown as a percentage and it relates to the amount of money that is paid out for every 100 games.
For example, a blackjack game with 97% RTP pays 97 cents for every dollar spent as an average.
These are independently tested by recognized industry bodies and consider many thousands of games.
Remember that results will vary and few players will hit that average on the head.
Many will fall short while the lucky ones will exceed it.
The point here is to look for games with higher RTP levels.
A 98.5% game has a better chance of returning profits than a 96% option.
Again, there are no guarantees, but this can be a useful tip.

#Tip 2:
Check blackjack strategies
There’s a ton of advice out there from experienced blackjack players.
Whether you take it or not is up to you.
One way of putting a strategy to the test is to employ it during a demo game when there is no money at stake.
One common piece of advice is to always split when you have two Aces.
In blackjack, you can split cards if you are dealt a pair.
You now have two hands and can hit on both.
Splitting on aces makes sense as most cards in a deck are worth ten points.
The chances of hitting blackjack are now enhanced.
Specific advice is out there.
You shouldn't follow it blindly but take it on board and see if it may work for you.
#Tip 3:
Take your time
If you’re playing online blackjack with traditional, automated software, there’s no need to rush. Look at the cards that you’ve been dealt. Now compare them to the one visible card on the dealer’s side of the table.
Take time to process the information before making your next move. When you’re just starting out with online blackjack we recommend using the automated rooms. When you’re more confident, you can move up to the live dealer tables.
Blackjack Games on live tables need to move at a faster pace.

#Tip 4:
Manage your bankroll
Don’t bet more than you can afford to lose.
It’s one of the most important practices to follow and Unibet fully support responsible gambling. Don’t chase losses and always stay in control of your bankroll.
The bankroll is another term for your account balance.
Opinion differs but most players will not stake more than 10% of the bankroll in any one session. If you win, great, your balance increases.
You can withdraw some funds or go in with a bigger balance next time.
Under the 10% system, any losses are manageable so please take this advice on board.
#Tip 5:
Hunt for some blackjack promos and offers
We’ve talked about offers and promotions and how they can add value to your Unibet account. We don’t want you to miss out on these so please stay in the loop.
